Bunionectomy
By Janet
May 04, 2011
I recently underwent a bunionectomy preformed by Dr. Pancholi. The procedure was timely and efficient. My recovery is going well. I am semi-active after 6 weeks. I like that Dr. Pancholi does not "baby" the recovery, but encourages movement and use. Her "helper" at the Palmerton office is super great as well.
wound care

I have known Dr. Steber for 10 years after learning from him by a friend. He healed a wound that would not heal for several months. 6 months ago my 5th toe opened up. He referred me for hyperbaric oxygen therapy which was denied by my insurance. I was told by 2 vascular surgeons at the local wound care centers that I would lose my leg because my circulation was too bad to have a bypass surgery. Through old fashioned weekly wound care and removal of infected bone my toe has healed and I have returned to work. I had applied for permanent disability. Dr. Steber and his staff are "the wound care specialists" in the area if you want to save your leg.
The Surgery was a blessing

I was unable to flex my toes towards me on my left foot. This was classified as foot drop. I was unable to walk without tripping over my feet, therefore I was wearing a brace for stability. I have received surgery by Dr. Pancholi and I have regained stability and movement to my foot and toes. It was terrific.

Surgery was Outstanding and The Best
By Hopely

I had a bunionectomy of the left great toe in the middle of August 2011. I hesitated doing the surgery because I was silly enough to read the how the surgery was going to be perfomed and read comments from patients. I postponed the surgery twice. I cannot emphasis how important it is to NOT READ what is on the general information out in web MD about my surgery. My surgery was outstanding by Dr. Steber. I had concerns about being active and running, exercising, and walking, post operation. I kept running before surgery because people posted incorrect information about how long they were laid up from surgery. DON'T believe it. I ran 4 weeks after surgery and my surgery involved cutting the bones and scraping and stiches. I was able to run a few times per week, little discomfort but 1000% better than before. I cannot believe I was silly enough to postpone this surgery. YOU DO HAVE TO LISTEN AND BE MINDFUL THE FIRST WEEK. Dr. Steber was fantastic, he explained everything and gave me the confidence to excel after surgery. I was told by other professionals I could never run again but that is not true I am running, walking, biking, working, etc. At 8 weeks after running I am pain free. The first office visit I could not walk on the ball of my foot and great pain (10 out 10) at the great toe and under my foot. Dr. Steber told me exactly what was going to happen during surgery and after. He is stupendous. The office staff is unbelievable and very helpful. Anyone can benefit from Dr. Steber, athletes, weekend exercise enthusiasts, non sports people, etc. If you are one that keeps active and have a problem don't delay get checked. I was silly not to visit sooner, I put off the getting a doctor for one year;until I couldn't run or walk without terrible pain. I was lucky not to have caused more damage. Dr. Steber is the best.
Surgery was Great

I put off seeing a doctor for one year, I kept having pain at the base of my left great toe and bottom of my foot. I kept running on the foot for one year until I could not run. I couldn't imagine what was wrong, I finally was referred to Dr. Steber and he knew right away what it was. I was shocked, he said surgery, I said what??? He was so calm explaining and answering my hundred questions. I looked up online what the surgery would entail and I did not like the online information. DO NOT PAY ATTENTION TO THE INFORMATION ONLINE. I postponed the surgery twice because of this. I finally had the surgery and it was amazing, I could not walk on the ball of my foot which caused other temporary issues. Dr. Steber was fanatastic with the surgery and did not do a generic surgery. He took into consideration my desire to run as soon as possible on my foot. You have to listen and do exactly what the doctor says the first week. Those instructions and Dr. Steber's care made all the difference. I was walking great in 3-4 weeks and ran low impact at 4 weeks, I ran just about normally at 8 weeks with no pain. The surgery was nothing like comments, information online. So weekend warriors, athletes, runners etc. see Dr. Steber you will be back running, participating in no time. This was the best ever.
