I've been receiving daily google alerts on gait analysis with regards to video evaluation of walking. Many shoe stores now offer video analyis to determine what shoe is the best fit for you. Like most of the chain store's hocus pocus in choosing a "custom" insole for your feet, most of the information gathered is not truly objective. It is, however, a very good marketing tool. If you truly want to analyze how you walk or evaluate which shoe is best for you, you need to have objective data obtained by a computer and not the naked eye. The Optogait gait analysis system provides objective data that video alone can not evaluate. Compare old and new sneaker vidoes @ you tube link and you will be unable to see a 12% difference in symmetry that was found with the Optogait but can not be discerned by video alone.
