Answer: The Optogait Gait Analysis System. 

We are extremely pleased to have added this amazing technology to the practice.  The Optogait is a state of the art video and computerized gait analysis system that allows us to analyze how an athlete or a patient walks, runs, jumps, etc. 

We are using this technology to evaluate how well our orthotics and braces are working, preoperative and postoperative gait analysis, athletic evaluation for power, strenght, agility and stabilty and the susceptibility to injury.  Our clinic partners with physical therapy and rehabilitation centers to evaluate how well their patients are responding to their therapy programs. 

There is a special interest to use the Optogait as part of a Fall Prevention Program by looking at various balance tests using the video and computerized technology.  Falls costs the US medical system billions of dollars per year.  Identifying people who are prone to falls and prescribing the appropriate therapies to help prevent falls will lower overall medical costs and allow our patients to have a better quality of life.
